What is the gestational sac at 4 weeks? ›

The gestational sac can be seen transvagin*lly as early as 4 weeks' gestation when its greater diameter is 2 mm with corresponding human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels around 1000 mIU/mL (International Reference Preparation or IRP).

By 7 weeks, the embryo has grown to about 10mm long from head to bottom. This measurement is called the crown-rump length.
